"From two parcels of 60+ year old vines totalling 0.63-hectares, the 2012 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes has an entrancingly beautiful bouquet with blackberry, wild hedgerow, iris and cold stone that has wonderful definition. The palate has very good structure and mineralité: real tension here with a taut, linear finish that goes on and on. This is one of the best Chambolle premier crus this year." 92-94 Points, Neal Martin, eRobertParker.com, December 2013

DOMAINE HUDELOT-BAILLET
Chambolle-Musigny, Cote de Nuits - Burgundy

Joel Hudelot-Baillet took over from his father Paul Hudelot in 1981,the domaine having originally been established several years earlier. Joel retired in 2004, passed the reins to his son-in-law Dominique Le Guen who had been working at the domaine since 1998. Domaine Hudelot-Baillet is an authentic Chambolle-Musigny estate with cellars in the town as well as holdings entirely within the appellation.
Today the estate is run by Dominique Le Guen, Joel’s son-in-law, who also served as the vineyard manager for Frederic Mugnier. Le Guen began working at his father-in-law’s estate in 1998 and took over the leadership role in 2004.

Chambolle-Musigny is a village appellation located in the Côte de Nuits ((Côte-d’Or) region which includes 24 Premiers Cru Climats. The producing commune is Chambolle-Musigny which also produces 2 appellations of Grand Crus: Musigny and Bonnes-Mares. On the label, the appellation Chambolle-Musigny and Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru may be followed by the name of the Climat of origin.
This small village in the Côte de Nuits, formerly an adjunct of the Abbey of Cîteaux, is unwilling to expand its dwellings, so as not to encroaching on its precious vineyards (though it has given space to a lime-tree with a girth of 5 meters!).
Two superb appellations Grands Crus are grown here: Bonnes-Mares, which links its vineyards to those of Morey-Saint-Denis, and MUSIGNY which overlooks the Clos de Vougeot. The village also boasts among its fine wines a prestigious Premier Cru, Les Amoureuses. Its AOC dates back to September 1936, making it one of the first French vineyards to be thus designated.

The slope faces east at altitudes of 250-300 meters with a shallow soil overlying the parent rock, but fissures in the hard Jurassic limestone allow the roots to seek nourishment deep within the sub-soil. Boulders and gravels in the valley bottom ensure good drainage.
