Producer: Tenute Senia - Sicily, Italy
Wine: 2021 Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG
Varietal: 60% Nero d’Avola, 40% Frappato
Tasting Notes: This wine opens with an expressive nose featuring floral notes of rose and black cherry, subtly layered with a touch of tobacco. On the palate, it reveals a full, warm body, where medium tannins are finely balanced against a vibrant high acidity. Delicate hints of little red fruits—think redcurrant and raspberry—dance alongside a whisper of licorice, adding depth without overpowering. Light chocolate notes emerge toward the finish, lending a gentle richness. Overall, it’s a structured yet elegant wine, offering both aromatic complexity and a harmonious, lingering palate.
Food: Risotto with mushroom sauce, swordfish with capers and tomatoes, seared tuna with caramelized onions, rice arancini with saffron and cheese, eggplant caponata, braised octopus and fennel sausage pizza.

Tenute Senia
Chiaramonte Gulf - Sicily, Italy
Tenute Senia was established in 1850 in the Chiaramonte Gulf (encompassing the districts of Senia, Mortilla and Serravalle) and the same family has been growing 43 acres of native grapes as well as 7 acres of olive groves and some carob trees and persimmons for 7 generations. No pesticides or herbicides are used on this property cared for by three women: Angela, the owner and winemaker, her sister Valentina, the cellar/export/hospitality manager and their mother Pina who helps with her lifelong expertise in all aspects of the process. This link between women and wine is reminiscent of the history of this area called Contrada Senia where, in the 15th century, a woman was already marketing and selling wines and oils. This single district is the equivalent of a climate and is rich in limestone soil with volcanic subsoil where Sicilia DOC, Vittoria DOC, and Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG shine.
