CHATEAU HAUT BARADIEU

Saint-Estèphe, Bordeux

Perched on a picturesque gravel hilltop in the heart of the Saint-Estèphe terroir, Château Haut Baradieu is located in the village of Saint-Corbian north of Pez and lies amid the waters off the Chenal de Calon.

Founded under the name Villa Ossian, this domain has been in the Anney family since 1678 (Gallo-Roman era) and each generation of winemakers has approached their duties to helm this priceless terroir with the same passion and energy.

Today, Château Haut Baradieu is produced by fifth generation winemaker Christophe Anney from Château Tour des Termes and covers 30 acres of vines planted on clay-limestone and clay-gravel soils. Christophe continues his family’s legacy with the utmost care and attention to produce a rich wine in its youth mellowing with age into a complex, smooth and approachable Saint Estèphe with velvety tannins.

Saint-Estèphe is an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) for red wine in the Bordeaux region, located in the Médoc subregion. It takes its name from the commune of Saint-Estèphe and is the northernmost of the six communal appellations in Médoc. Five classified growths of 1855 (Bordeaux Grands Crus Classés en 1855) are located within the appellation area. Saint-Estèphe has held AOC recognition since 1936.
